This is another recent acquisition for my growing collection of shohin, a Yew imported from Japan last year. It has terrific movement and a nice basic branch structure. Just needs some deadwood and maturity to complete the image. It is 20 cm tall and I look forward to working with this tree very much.
Love the trunk on this one, really draws me in
Thanks Jason, should make an eye catching tree in time
Was this yamadori or was the trunk created?
Hi Greatdividebonsai
This is Japanese field grown stock, the movement in the tree was done with wire, when it was planted. Nice material, rarely seen outside Japan
I agree, very nice
I’d love to get my hands on a Japanese yew – always liked any photos of them that I have seen. It’ll be great to see how yours progresses, Robert.
I’m sure you get some soon
