Yesterday was the first Sunday of the month, which means it was club day at Wattston Bonsai . Despite the wet weather and the fact that it was the closing day of the Commonwealth Games we had a good attendance of about 20 people, working on a wide variety of trees and accents. At the peak time during these meetings it is virtually impossible to find the space to take any photographs so here are some taken in the late afternoon when things had begun to slow down.
Three junipers that Dougie was working on, these trees are now on his sales benches
Gordon’s needle juniper wired on the day by Dougie Smith
Maurice’s shohin, clump style, corked bark elm. ( I like this tree it has a lovely winter image)
Jim McMaster’s shohin gardenia, it has a flower bud emerging on the top, which is more than mine has at the moment
Some accent plantings by Robert Porch
2 Lovely mixed plantings with astilbe
