Several people have asked me about the tree in the picture at the top of my pages. Well its an ancient root over rock rowan, or mountain ash, which is well over 100 years old and grows in the landscape close to my village.
It hasn’t grown very much in the years I have been observing it but each autumn it still manages to display a fine crop of red berries. The bulbous base of the trunk has a diameter of about 24 inches. The second picture was taken in 2004 before the construction of the new lake.
