I attended the monthly meeting of my local bonsai club yesterday. The Lanarkshire Bonsai Club meets on the first Sunday of the month at the premises of Scotland’s premiere bonsai importer Dougie Smith at Wattston Bonsai. The great thing about having our meetings here is that not only can you enjoy the company of like minded individuals but you can also be inspired by the fantastic trees for sale on Dougie’s benches.
This month some of the members had invited Marcus Watts from Cornwall to conduct a weekend workshop and demonstration. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend. On Sunday afternoon, we had agreed to plan our club display for the national bonsai show, which takes place on the 18th May 2014. Marcus, as an impartial observer, very kindly agreed to select which of the members trees would represent the club at the show.
The first picture shows Marcus selecting and arranging the trees for the display with Dougie and some of the club members
